Additional costs
Most additional costs are optional. However, crew members attending race events are expected to wear a club t-shirt. Also, most club members purchase their own paddles once confident that dragon boating is for them. See ‘Paddles’ below.
Racing
Race fees are normally set at £10 per person, and only payable if attending.
The club facilitates car-sharing for away events with the cost of fuel and car-parking (where applicable) shared between each pooled vehicle.
Anaconda-branded training top (see kit)
Kit
We have a range of branded clothing. If racing, you will need a training top – either t-shirt or vest top. Otherwise, branded kit is entirely option. We just can’t get enough of it though!
• T-shirt – £14
• Vest top £13
• Polo shirt £11
• Shell jacket £34
• Hoodie £20
• Dry robe £95
• Hat £6
• Cap £8.50
• Bibs – suitable for dogs and babies! – £5
• Car and paddles stickers – free
Paddles
You can use the club paddles. However, most club members prefer to get their own once they are satisfied that dragon boating is for them. This is likely to be the most expensive purchase for any member. A good lightweight paddle can cost between £100 and £150, and will last several years. There is a small market for second-hand paddles. The club can offer advice on which paddle to purchase.
Buoyancy aids
Use of buoyancy aids is compulsory in winter (GMT) and optional in summer (BST). The club provides buoyancy aids. You are also welcome to use your own.
